Would a Burberry Trench be a good raincoat for the summer or would it be too hot?

While some Burberry trench's have linings that can be removed, I'd say either way it would be a little warm for summer wear. Burberry does make some nice looking 3/4 and full length summer weight raincoats. I'd go that direction over wearing a heavier coat.

Depends a bit on what...if anything...you are wearing underneath.

Thanks for the reply. What do people usually use to shield themselves from the rain in the summer. Particularly NYC where you walk a lot. Just an umbrella or a coat like you mentioned? I'm from Houston and anytime I have worn a suit in the past when it was raining I would just go from my garage to my car, drive into a covered parking garage, walk in an air conditioned tunnel and never even see the rain. So basically never really thought about this question before.

However, this summer I'll be spending a lot of time in NYC and am curious as to what people use to shield themselves from the rain in summer?

I have an Allegri lightweight coat similar to this one and a shorter casual field jacket from Burberry. Both pack easily and do the job. If you're only getting one I'd go with a longer version, it's more versatile. An umbrella is still useful. I'd recommend both as an umbrella alone will leave your pants very wet if you get stuck in any significant downpour.

My Burberry trench without the liner would be too hot in summer. I wear a lighter-weight trench for summer.
