I need a new winter coat. I'm starting an internship soon and will graduate in the spring, so I'd like something a little more formal than a ski jacket.

I really like the style of Burberry coats, but I'm pretty strapped for cash. Any suggestions for a cheaper brand with a similar style?

read the mega peacoat thread... I assume that's what you're referring to?

There are many very affordable options for nice peacoats around.

i've been looking for some Burberry style top coats as well... i'm in love with their military coat (pictured is $1600)...i think i saw a really nice marc jacobs one, similar to pictured, for $5xx...wonder if theres any options sub-$300?

I'll check it out, but I'm not really that interested in a pea coat. They became very popular with college guys two years ago, and now a lot of my non-stylish friends have them.

I'd like a light gray trench coat. Something I could wear with brown shoes.

what kind of "winter" are we talking about here... ?

What's the difference between a trench coat and a peacoat? I would have said to get a trench but even lined ones I don't think are exactly warm enough for winter...

also, isn't there an inherant contradiction between light grey and trench coat?

I would avoid it. People will think you're wearing a fake.

Try searching the forum for studhomme...I remember somebody was advertising burberry-replica coats awhile back that looked pretty good.
