As readers of my other post may note, Ive recently decided to up my fashion game through a few new investments in clothing. One thing that caught my eye was this http://www.burberryusaonline.com/pro...119967.1891430 Now, 2 things come to mind. 1. Is the price tag worth it, both in terms of style and lasting factor. Also; being that light of colour; I would wonder how well it would match things, as I wear mostly darker clothing. And 2 Is the burberry check still considered to chav? Aquascutum trenches dont catch my eye as well as these more modern takes. I do of course intend to "pop" the collar, but only on days that call for it. (The signature check is, I believe, displayed under the collar) Im somewhat worried of being lumped in with that unfortunate 'chav' grouping. Thanks; L.R.

The trench is classic and not Chav. The shorter coats are more fashionable now but if you're interested in longevity you might consider the traditional knee length.

I'm a fan of the traditional knee length coats. It's the only Burberry product I like.

I would not purchase anything Burberry. It is pretty inferior in make.

It is only chavtastic if you can see the Burberry tartan on the outside of the garment. If it is just the lining then you are safe.

I think, though I cant be sure from the pictures online, that theres is the tartan on the outside underneath the collar. When its up it shows.

The hats are maybe too chav. Goes double if worn with trackies.

Burberry is chav if you're a chav.

I sometime see the classiest people wearing Burberry, but because they don't carry it in a "aw my gawd it blublerry!!!"-way it doesn't look trashy/nouveau riche/chavy.

They've improved their fits considerably with the new slim trenches and jackets. I have picked up a few pieces this season and have been more than happy. I would not worry about the chavs, there are plenty of chavs wearing SF approved gear.

Looks good. chav only applies in the uk. The burberry in hip-hop trend in north america is dead, so it's back to being just another pattern.

I can't really speak for the US market, as I believe that Burberry have a different manufacturer/distributor there (HSM, perhaps?).

However, I have a made-in-England Burberry trench, and it definitely doesn't have the Burberry plaid under the collar. Instead, it has the classic collar buckle and fastener, as the collar is designed to be popped up and fastened in inclement weather.

Chavs don't wear trench coats, no need to worry. So long as you steer clear of track suits in fake Burberry check and those caps you should be fine.

Aggressive often track suit wearing individuals (although the dress code does vary a bit from region to region) who spends a lot of time hanging around looking for fights and getting pregnant. Stereotypically lower class and ill educated, although its not just a class thing. Generally famous for wearing the largest branding available to display their wealth, Burberry check became the favoured method to do this and so for a while was considered unwearable for "normal" people. Wikipedia has an ok page on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav Its a bit of a problem in the UK at the moment.
