It works well with pleated pants. Although the pleats will open up slightly when I keep my keys in it, still better than the keys bulging and flopping around the pockets when I walk.

^ Doesn't this make getting your keys out in the parking lot a little awkward? I'm just envisioning having to reach inside my waistband rooting around for my keys, and then looking up to see a horrified mother with her kids....

You only stuff one finger in, then fiddle around with the finger to search for the keyloop. Pull it out and voila.

It's called a fob pocket. Traditional style chinos like my K1s have one on the right. I think they were originally for a fob watch if you didn't have on a waistcoat, so more common on casual strides.
