hi guys,

i wish i could say this was just a little experiment, the how much bang could i get from my buck type deals, but the truth of the matter is, i'm 24 and flat broke, but needed some work gear quick so i could afford the better things.

being short and skinny (a rather unusual size) i did not do well with 2nd hand hunting or retail shopping.

here are what ive come up with on a tight budget.

my girlfriend went to HK recently and managed to get me 2 suits based on a well fitting suit i had, and although the fabrics were crap and they didn't get the measurements quiete right either, i think it still turned out ok considering the suits cost about $100 each. the suits are pictured below. The sleeves are very long, i'm going on a trip to a tailor soon NB: the bottom one is a dark grey suit, just could not be bothered changing the pants.

the shirt is from moderntailor.

the first pocket square is actually a thrifted ladies scarf, and the second is fabric that has had the edges folded and sewn.

P.S. I apologise for the substandard photographs, i am saving up for a better camera. micro four thirds

If you already have a well-fitting suit, why do you need two more crappy ones?

It's really tough to tell anything from those pics, but the sleeves look too long and there's something really funky going on with the shoulders...I can't really tell but maybe the shoulder measurement is too short? It looks like the shoulder pad is jutting out, and then your deltoid is sticking out way beyond where the shoulder ends. Again, it's really hard to give criticism based on the pics, but that's what it looks like to me.

Stop tying a windsor knot, they're horrible enough on a tie that accepts them well, they're just annoying on a thin tie like that one.

Take the pocket square out and toss it.

The sleeves are too long, other than that i think it looks good.

incorrect, the windsor looks very much appropriate on a cutaway spread collar.

not everyone likes the teeny tiny 4IH

Well bateman has a wider tie. Something doesnt seem right when the knot seem to be wider than thr tie itself. Also, that tie knot in the ops pictures needs to be tightened properly.

I agree the op's tie is not expertly tied or shaped, but in general the windsor is a perfectly acceptable knot.

There is no need to apologize for being 24, poor, and trying to get an appropriate work wardrobe together for a proper job. This is in fact the normal situation for someone your age trying to improve their lot in life.

A close up of your tie/knot would help: beyond the fact some people here hate windsors (I don't mind them) something is not working right. I think you aren't tying it tight enough, and perhaps the tie is too thin for the knot, but we can't tell in the picture.

arms are about 2" too long. and too wide. shoulders look really strange as well. Hard to tell from the small dark pics though.

yes, ties aside, those suits are miserable. All the wrinkling on the arms and back.

Like the shirt though

thanks for the input guys, i agree with you about the suit fit, there is something wrong with the arms and shoulders. i am willing to go the second hand route but a quick search of the FS section didnt bring up any results for a 36S or even a 34S suit.
