Bubbling on side of jacket

I noticed some bubbling—or at least that’s my best description of this phenomenon—on one side of a jacket, right under the armhole. What would cause this? What is the fix for this?

This is a half-canvas construction suit, made from VBC S100 wool, that is about 6 years old.

If there is fusible in the chest area, it is due to the glue becoming separated from the outside fabric of the coat.

This is one of the major drawbacks of fused construction, and unfortunately it's not uncommon.

Thanks, @Nobilis Animus! That area certainly seems fused. Anything that can be done to repair the jacket? On the plus side, it is in a relatively hidden part of the coat.

It's weird that I sent it to the dry cleaners and it came back like this; curious whether it's something in their process that may lead to this ...

It could be due to the heat from the dry cleaning process.
I wonder if it could be pressed out.

I would definitely say that it has to do with the dry cleaning process; fused jackets are liable to this issue from the heat.

Unfortunately, I have no experience in repairing this issue - only in assessing the cause. I have seen it happen to others, but never used a fused coat myself. Perhaps more knowledgeable members might be able to help with this.

Thank you, @Phileas Fogg and @Nobilis Animus. Perhaps I will take this over to my local tailor and ask whether he is able to press out these bubbles. (I don’t trust my own abilities with an iron!)
