Yes - I think it's best to brush after each wear. I have a double-sided Kent brush (longer hair on one side for jackets, shorter hair on the other for pants) which I strongly recommend

I give a quick brush after every wear. Be very careful/gentle with cashmere though.

Apart from the obvious, removing hair, lint, or whatever may have gotten caught on the suit surface, is there any other reason for brushing suits?

Brushing helps release and remove dirt that might otherwise settle into the fibers, and also has a restorative effect on the nap and elasticity of the yarns. Or so I have been told.

Thanks Manton, very insightful as always.

You (and a select few others) should have "SF Knowldege God" under your handle instead of "Senior Member".

Kent brushes also sells brushes specifically designed for cashmere, which I use on cashmere coats and on sweaters of all sorts.

Highly recommend Kent.

I have the double-sided Kent brush as well as the brush for cashmere, thanks to Styleforum. They work very well and seem to be gentle on my suits and coats.

However, I am at a loss as to how to clean the brushes themselves. They do become clogged with dust, loose fibers, dog fur and such. Any tips?

While I agree that the Kent brushes are the best quality out there I couldn't spend the $90. So I went to Gracious Homes in NYC and got a brush that felt similar for $9.00.

I brush my suits before I put them on and when I take them off.

I bought a G Lorenzi suit brush in the Milan store that works well but I also have a Kent I like. A small selection of G Lorenzi is at the Bergdorf men's store in NYC.
