So I have a 3 piece light grey suit that I love, and the color is perfect to go with medium brown shoes...But if i were to pair the suit with a white shirt and black tie, would the brown shoes and belt remain appropriate?

The issue would be with the belt. Brown shoes require a brown belt. And then you've got the black tie with the brown belt to deal with. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but it is probably best to avoid. Why not go navy for the tie?

That's sort of where my problem was too. The black tie is a skinnier tie ~2.25 inches (most of mine are 3.25+) and the contrast looks good with the gray and white. I would do navy, but the only two navy ties i have are dotted. I love the look of the two pindot navy ties, but, having the black tie in my wardrobe, i was trying to figure out a way to incorporate it.

Now, considering that it is a 3 piece suit, what if i went sans belt (vest covering waistband)? That would solve the problem... right?

Going for a Sean Connery in Goldfinger look?

I agree with Claghorn, this would look better with a navy tie.

Black would clash with the brown.

Brown leather goes with brown leather. Either change the belt or change the shoes to black.

Three piece? Belt shouldn't be a factor as should be either invisible or in the cupboard.
I still find mixing blacks and browns to look off. I also have trouble incorporating a black tie into an everyday outfit so what do I know?
