Brown shoe suggestions?

I'm looking for some suggestions for a brown shoe to wear everyday. My requirements are slightly different than most of you who work in a business setting.........I'm a middle school science teacher so I'm on my feet most of the day and have labs to perform with students. I have a pair of AE Edmontons but I hesitate to wear a $200 pair of shoes in my environment. My trousers consist mainly clean, straight fit browns and tans (Gap, J. Crew, Banana, etc.). I was looking at Clarks Desert Boots, any other suggestions?

If I stood most of the day, I'd focus on comfort.
Rockports may not be the most elegant of shoes, but they're fantastically comfortable.
