I will be attending my (16 year old) sister-in-law's high school play this evening-- the standard of dress at these things is deplorable-- jeans, sweaters, maybe a tie here or there, NASCAR Jackets...

I dont want to go way over dressed, so I was thinking probably a navy cashmere blazer, or a green tweed with a blue windowpane over it.

Can I get away with wearing a brown herringbone DB overcoat in the evening? The lighter tone of the herringbone is like a dark oatmeal, the darker tone is a chocolate-- collar is brown velvet.

Any thoughts/suggestions?
