How do you get the 30% discount? Are you automatically prompted?

I thought Blake welted shoes allow water to seep in. Did I get that wrong?

They may be Good Year. I bought them before I knew any better. I have since had the comando -style oversole changed out.

I went to the Red Wing store and I didn't really like any of them, especially the bulbous toes.

What about the AE Dalton in dark chocolate?

I wish it had a rubber sole, but the only option from AE since they discontinued the Bayfield.

I thought Dalton was only in walnut.

edit- just looked and apparently there is a brown. Nice option. I might have to go with those. Am I crazy or are these indeed new?

However, with these boots, I'd probably treat them nicely and they wouldn't exactly be "beater" boots.

Why would you treat them nicely?

They aren't that expensive...compared to cordovan boots.

Yeah, but they're leather soled and don't look like the beater type. I typically treat all my clothes and shoes overly nicely though.

Those last two Alfred Sargent boots posted are great! :slayer::slayer:

My beaters are Alden Indys w/ a topied (topy'ed?) sole. Not really beaters by the formal definition for me, but I wear them in everything! If Indy can, why can't I. They look great a little weathered too. I got mine on SF practically brand new for around $300-350.

it just came up for me when I went to check out. You can probably call and ask for it. They are pretty true to size

The brown is not new, but everybody went nuts over the walnut and nobody noticed there was a great subdued brown version.

I recently got Indys for this same purpose (On sale at JCrew for $315). I don't really like those BB boots much. You would be better off with the AEs.
