I'm not that familiar with Brooks Bros but there are differences in the shapes & styles of the Brooks label, which leads me to be a little suspicious. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can ascertain their authenticity.

Last time I bought anything from Brooks Brothers was the early 90s...a rather lovely merino wool tennis sweater. At any rate, I saw these three sport coats on eBay a few minutes ago and would love to hear the opinions of you cats. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws....ck=true http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws....ck=true http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws....18&rd=1
I cannot keep up with the different labels on Brooks clothing anymore. Nor their flucuation with time, ownership, or marketing scheme (i.e. outlets, etc), but the first two look like coats made specifically for outlets (even though one has a "346" label -- and a design of that label that I've never seen before). The third looks a little older -- and perhaps was originally part of suit. If I were to get one of them, I'd say that the third is the only decent option.

It was pretty well only the third one that really interested me -- and I wasn't in love with it.

Thanks lads.

346 denotes their "factory outlet" line of clothes.

346 denotes their "factory outlet" line of clothes.
But in a previous incarnation, the "346" label denoted what might be called, nowadays, in business-speak, an "entry" label. That is, it was a line of clothing for those on just out of College and approaching Wall Street or whatnot.

I've snagged a couple of BB jackets off ebay...most of 'em were shapeless, fused junk. The only thing I've liked enough to keep is a black blazer in Loro Piana cashmere, and even that has horsehairs coming out of the lapels constantly. I tried on a bunch of newer jackets at random in the local BB recently while my wife was having a suit fitted, and the experience did little to rehabilitate that impression. So unless the label says Golden Fleece I'd stay away, if I were you...actually, even then, 'cause we're both 48L's.

I knew there had to be another 48L out there somewhere. So this is what it feels like...when doves cry.
