Does anyone know who makes the "made in italy" Brooks Brothers shoes? I've emailed them to no avail, and it seems like they have discontinued private labeling italian shoes. I picked some up at the factory outlet - a pair of chestnut loafs. I like the quality, just wondering who made them

I can't help you with the name of the manufacture.

However, if the shoe you picked up are similar to the ones I've seen at the BB outlets, and says "made in Italy", they are actually of quite poor quality- corrected leather and glued construction.

MADE IN does not mean anything nowadays.....
Some products are entierely manufactured abroad ,shipped in the country concerned to get the "Made in" label ,therefore escaping import restrictions/quotas and sometimes are reveiving no more than a 2 minutes assembly line work to deserve it!!!!

Which all branded "All American car"was in reality only made of 1% of American parts?

Geez lasbar, take it easy...

These say "Handmade in Italy" on the inside and the bottom of the shoe and have been discontinued. Labeling country of origin is actually a law in the states.

Still no clue, but I'm enjoying them - I guess that's all that matters.

c55-

Sorry, while lasbar's post may have been a bit excited, he is fundamentally correct. Also, saying "handmade" is meaningless. At some point, some part of the process may have involved a hand in Italy, but it is not the same degree of hand-made work as the fatte-a-mano by Santoni for example.

However, if the shoe makes you happy, that is really all that matters.
