Hi,
I'm wondering about the differences between the BB MTM program and the Hickey Freeman MTM program. I'm wanting to get a new suit and i'm unsure of where to start. I was told today at Brooks Brothers I could get a MTM 1818 suit made by Southwick for $1,000. The Nordstroms in Charlotte said the Hickey Freeman MTM program starts at $1,200 but they have promotions when they reach down close to a $1,000. Does anyone have experience with both of these programs? Which do you prefer and why? Are both suits fully canvassed? Which one is better quality?

I think Hickey MTM at nordstroms gets as cheap as 1100 (from ~$1700) starting during their anniversary sale in july. Id like to hear if it gets cheaper than that but I think thats the cheapest.

It is fully canvessed and excellent quality.

They have limited selection and specific fabrics that are included. Its not good for everything.

I just had a fitting for a MTM blazer, selected an excellent navy hopsack.

Total came to $910 with a few addons (name plate $25, custom lining $125) and I think a starting price of $750.

No comment on BB.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
