I just bought the Madison Gabardine trousers from Brooks Brothers yesterday to find out they were made in Thailand instead of Canada. Apparently the wool is lesser quality along with the seams, and these pants wrinkle according to guys on this forum.

You guys have any recommendations for good wool pants ~$100 each?

I'm thinking either Nordstrom, Jcrew, or Charles Tyrwhitt? How about Bonobos? Looking for wool.

I suggest you wear them and decide for yourself whether or not they are decent. They sell for 2 for $229. For $115 wool I think they do great. No, they're not the same as $300 pants but I own several pairs bought in the last 12 months and I don't find any issues given the price point. You have to be careful with internet forums - if YOU don't see a problem with something you own, don't let people here convince you there is one.

I can't afford to drop $200 on trousers to try them out.. Would rather go with something safe.

In your original post you said you "just bought" - so you already own them don't you? Which is it - you own them already and thus don't need to "drop $200 to try them out" or you don't yet own them?

When I buy something I tend to keep it for a long time, not try it out to see if it's any good.

Yes I've already bought them, but they have the tags on. I am referring to keeping these despite knowingly poor reviews pretty much everywhere - I would prefer a brand that is consistently highly reviewed so I'm not wasting my money.

J crew Bowery pants in wool is worth a shot, though limited selection in color for wool.

Brooks Brothers Madison 1818 gabardine dress pants are CRAP. I've had a number of them over the last 3 years and they all come apart at the seems, wrinkle, etc. I think the colors are bland and the material feels kind of cheap and ugly as well. I recently started buying Charles Tyrwhitt dress pants (the slim fit version) and for $89, i find the quality, fit, luster, color, feel, and durability to be much better.

I've had several pairs of BB gabardine trousers for several years now and found them to be a great value at roughly $85 per pair, which is what they sell for during most of the sales they run.

While the wool is okay, I haven't had a problem with any of my BB pants "falling apart" or anything that drastic. Brooks Brothers has a satisfaction guarantee. If they fall apart quickly, return them.

I've tried to do this - they always put up a fight, at least at the store I've been to. CT - 6 month guarantee no questioned asked, much less hassle. Plus better selection too.

+1. My only complaint I have is the Madison gabardine are cut much slimmer than the other Madison pants that run like $250. Drives me nuts that the Madison gabardine are cut slim and my legs feel like they're about to rip the seams compared to the more expensive Madison pants BB carries.
