Dear Folks

Searching for the maker of recent BB 'made in Italy' suits.

I know that Golden Fleece was made by somebody Italian in the late 90s, but this is something else.

I also know that BB GF is made by somebody Italian, but I am talking about mainline BB with Italian labeling.

Search function here or on AA brings no answers.

...anybody?

I don't know how recent you are talking about, but I have a BB suit, non-Golden Fleece, which was purchased in 1998 at the 346 main store, sixth floor.

Back then the sixth floor was stocking some real high end stuff. I also purchased a seven fold tie back then.

Anyway, the suit, I was told, was made by St. Andrews. The amount of hand detailing would certainly support this observation, although I'm not sure if it's true. All the buttonholes were handstitched, collar was hand-padded, the fabric was a S-120. Even the pants had curtained waistband, v-notch (prior to alteration), belt holder loop, and lots of hand-picking evident on the pockets. Retail, if I remember correctly, was something like $2600.

I thought some of that stuff was made by Isaia (but not to their standard). For sure one of my coats has this label. I'm wearing it now. Wait, it's almost the same label. Not exact. Same bubbles with symbols & made in italy at top, same font and lettering color, same information, with a slightly different layout of boxes on the right side. Tag words are italian, printed matter is English. "Modello" is G BROOKS84 S.1. Not sure on the age of this, but it's at least three and not more than ten years old.

The current ones have the Ma.Co type label, IIRC.

The GF i recently pruchased were made by R Cursado, the jacket didn't have any label, but the label was instead on the trosuer. There has been previous GF made by Isaia/St. Andrew, which you can identify by looking at the label in the jacket pocket.

I'm also in search of the Italian maker for the 1818 line, anyone?
