I've read posts regarding the Brooks Brothers suits and sportcoats and that they are not what they used to be.

Can someone tell me about the Country Club collection they have? Is it just the same overpriced, fused stuff they now offer or is it a bit better quality.

Specifically, what would be the difference between their $420 navy blazer and their $598 Country Club navy blazer?

By the way, I see the value of this forum time and time again. I've called the Madison Ave. Brooks Brothers and after being transferred to 6 different people, I asked about if the navy blazer is fused or not. I was actually put on hold because the sales person does not know that that means. She came back and told me the jacket is not fused. Does that sound right in that price range?

Brooks Brothers is my favorite clothing brand, but I definetly agree that their sales people are largely ignorent about the products they are hired to sale. They are no more knowledgable than a seasonal salesperson at Filenes. I have never been to the Madison Ave. branch ,but the branch in West Hartford, Ct is the same way. I ordered a pink oxford button down from there they called me to come in and the shirt wasnt even there. Then they re-ordered the wrong type of shirt. When they finally got it right, they took a huge discount off because they of the 3 for 168 dollar deal. Not know I already recieved it when I brought the other two, considering the treatment I recieved I didnt fell bad when I didnt alert them to their mistake.

I just saw a couple of Country Club collection jackets at a BB outlet, with a purported original price of $800. They were not well constructed, IMO. There was no handwork evident in the collar, the sleeve-head, or the shoulder seam, so I assume that they would be fused as well. I don't think they look very good for the money.

Thanks shoefan. I'm 300 miles from the nearest BB store and saw one advertised recently for $150. Good information to know.
