i really wanna like this movie but

a) when i think of present day Brooklyn, i think million dollar brownstones and condos, not crime.

b) whenever i see richard gear, i automatically think of gerbils. perfect for tap-dancing Chicago, way too hard to buy as a tough BK cop. my imagination has its limits.

+1 ....Richard Gere might be soft, but I'm sure Cheadle and Hawk will make up for it. I really want to see this flick.

That's what I've heard. I'll probably watch it at some point though.

I hear you on the image of Brooklyn, however there are still some real rough hoods that gentrification has yet to grab hold of, but don't worry, they're tryin'. The rough streets image is just the one hipsters want people to have of BK, while their mommies and daddies pay for their lofts and all their "cool" friends listen to their ****** Indie bands, so they can create "art" in a "real" environment all the while calling themselves Brooklynites (cranky old man font used for the last bit there).

Prob watch it once it goes to DVD.

lets hang at mccarren park and discuss how yea yea yeahs bit off MGMT's bridges? i think i'll pass even on dvd.. denzel tends to overdo his roles making his character contrived and hawk looks like an addict ala jared leto in requiem for a dream.. richie g just makes the whole thing a damned circus. might make for great unintentional satire though, if viewed from that angle.
