@pompeypaul of course they can’t compare to the original, but Loake Royals are not bad. Worn here with Lois cords.

Just been to JM Weston. For the real brogues amateurs, the Derby triple semelles that @cerneabbas likes. The guy there told me you can have them made to order and choose the leather if you want. The ready to wear aren’t bad though.
They are indestructible, a friend has a pair for 40 years, still going strong.

I have a pair. As you say ‘not bad’.

However, the shiny leather could be better. It is handy in rain though. I have a Scotch grain pair I prefer. Also prefer Dainite soles now.

Regarding the lacing, I find that the stiff leather means laces come undone easily with standard style lacing. A cross-lacing style holds the shoe in place better and means less re-ties are needed during the day.
