Finally got to take some nicer photos of some of my brogues.

Stefano Bemer rtw (the true colour is bandaid fawn) :smarmy:

J&M handmades owned for decades.
(deleted...over exposed photo makes it look terrible)

A better photo of the Silvano Lattanzi hatch grain brogue.

Black Santoni brogue that gets worn a lot as a walking shoe (too lazy to edit old photo to cut other shoes out)

Two pairs of Santoni burgundy brogues with wide toe box (old photo). Great pair of shoes.

When browsing the Santoni website in this day and age, you don't see anything close to brogue patterns and brogue shoe designs like these. Am guessing they outsource and get their shoes made under the 'santoni' name but no longer manufacture their own shoes?

I donìt know, but you could be right. Santoni has become a pale shadow of what it was: fashionable and poorly contructed shoes for the trendy consumption, little or no substance.

Santoni don't make the shoes they used to. Many of the shoes are over-styled today, but 20 years ago they made many nice classics as can be seen from the photos of my collection.

Handmade brogues made by Grampa Kiss. Hand welted with wood pegged soles. Need to wear these with thick socks, but great shoes. Made with high quality vintage leather not seen today.

O.k....how about we kick this into top gear and show the top brogues made by the `brogue King' George Materna. If you want real brogues, this is the guy to see.

Was close to buying this pair once. Also by George Materna. Hand welted with wood pegged soles.

Beautiful, and extortionately expensive I imagine - to a simple working man like me anyway.

Yes big bucks, but not near as expensive as the other top makers. Probably about 1,700 euro, excellent value like many of the AH shoes.

A little bit too much for my liking. Not a fan of those heavy Austro-Hungarian lasts.

Still hoping for some advice from you fellas. I’m looking for some semi brogues for a wedding. Due to my frustratingly wide feet I think my usual go to of C&J is out of the question. I’ve narrowed it down to these:

any views on which to go for would be appreciated, as would any alternative suggestions.

Having in mind that you are planning to wear a tweed suit, these choices look appropriate, but, in the case of a wedding suit I would opt for black and no broguing though.

Gaziano and Girling Oxford on the GG06 last.

The Kensington is among my favourites. It is a lovely shaped shoe. So i would give it a thumbs up.

As far as semi brogues go, i would also suggest a Cheaney Tenterden. The last its on is suited to wider feet

Thanks for the responses - I have a pair of these. They’re pretty old but are still in good condition. The model is called Regent and I’m guessing the last is the same as the Kensington. I just wasn’t sure if a plain Oxford would go with a tweed suit.
