These schoolboys are rocking some awesome shoes.

It might be just the angle but that guy on the left, his shoes are surprisingly pointy. The others are about what I would expect, but still awesome.

http://www.shorpy.com/node/5684 - I wonder what they're drinking here. Did they have Coke in 1920?

What you call 'child labor', they called 'apprenticeship'.
They were investing in their futures.
They weren't sitting on their asses playing video games, wasting their lives.
No computers, no IPods.
They could pull up their pants.
They did not mumble, spit or drool.
Their vocabularies were 10x what their modern 'counterparts' possess today.
They were better than we are today.

I wish I could have lived in those days.
People were far more sophisticated and well-mannered.

And don't even think of saying 'ohh well they had to start younger because people didn't live as long back then'

Horsebiscuits!
Look at some renaissance art.
Old men with flowing white beards.

Bravo to those young MEN and WOMEN of yesteryear, I say.

.... our side of the pond, "these lads" (including Canadians) would have had to avoid the delights and attractions of World War I - which lowered the odds a bit!
