starting wednesday i will be in the big apple for 3 days, with 2 friends. we were thinking of going to see a play on broadway, hopefully in the broadway theater. i was just wondering what is the current dress codes for broadway? i've heard from others both that it's very casual nowadays, as well as people who say that they mostly still see collared shirts + ties. i am hoping it's more casual than formal, because NYC is only a 3 day stop for us on our way to brazil, so we need to pack light. for this reason we don't want to have to pack suits/dresses and accompanying accessories. any experiences or tips would be helpful, thank you!

i wouldn't worry too much about it...whatever you decide to do will probably be just fine...you'll see some people who enjoy dressing up for the big night on the town...and, you'll see some people who dress like they are going to see a movie...personally, i would let the activities before and after the show be more of a consideration for how to dress
