Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the soundtrack was really great. Stuff I knew was classic (for example, I think it was Bert's Apple Crumble whose bassline I recognized as being sampled by Massive Attack for Safe From Harm) but I didn't directly recognize.

    (spoiler)

I did think the makeup effects at the end were a little sad, esp. Saffron Burrows - I can't imagine why they didn't just get an older actress to play her 3 minutes. But no big deal, it didn't bother me.

And the clothes fetishism in the movie was obvious, and the cuts immaculate.

I was wrong, the song I was thinking of was Stratus Pt. 1 by Billy Cobham.

I'm trying to DL this right now, I'll check it out when I get it. Stratus Pt. 1 was when Gangster and Roland chase the guy up to his apt., I think.

I popped in "Gangster No.1" a few mins ago. Only 10 mins into the movie and I'm already convinced it was produced/written/directed by GetSmart...

Found it, it's the one that sounds like the organ solo from "Born To Be Wild".

I was thinking of a similar scene a little later.

Right down to Bettany wearing the Fred Perry in the pool hall. But forever in my vernacular will be, "What do you take me for, a cunt?"

_Trainspotting_ is a wry Scottish tale of drug taking and thievery and small time scams to support the habit. The novel is also a great read.
