This is a Brioni Jacket that has leather straps on the side. It is in their "Polo classic" line. There are leather adjustable straps above the pocket, which I have never seen and think it might look better with them removed. My question is whether there a vintage style for which these straps were part? Am I right that this is a boater jacket, or a "Polo" jacket? Did the adjustment straps serve a function. Thanks

Apparently Brioni used to come out with some crazy stuff as halo products before establishing itself as a traditional clothier.

I don't think that removing them will markedly improve the look...
