Gents,

I've seen a few new Brioni shirts online lately with 16.5-inch collars that have sleeve lengths advertised at 34 inches. Meanwhile, the salesman at the Brioni shop in Manhattan tells me all their 16.5 inch collars come with sleeves of 35 inches. The guys at Barneys and Saks concur, making the very reasonable-sounding argument that it's easier to sell a $500 shirt with a longer sleeve that can be shortened. I queried an online seller about this and he measured the sleeve of the shirt he was selling and insisted it came to 34 - a pity because I need the 35. And yes, I also asked him to measure the sleeve itself, which also was short of the 25.5 inches that would normally come on a 35-inch shirt, as I understand.

Can anybody lend any insight? Should I be suspicious, for example, that these shirts with the 34-inch sleeves aren't genuine, given what the guys at Brioni say?
