Bring the suit to a tailor or get a new one altogether?

I have a suit that I bought several years ago basically for school presentations and such. I tried it on the other day and realized that the fit was awful. The chest and shoulders fit alright, but the sleeves were too baggy and long and the waist area felt way too loose. Keep in mind this was a cheap bellisimo suit that I bought from tiptop.

Do you guys think it'd be worth it to get it some alterations done on it to make it fit? I'm not sure if I should even bother getting work done on such a cheap suit. Opinions? Should I just get a new one?

How much is the suit worth? And how much are you willing to spend on a new one? If the suit needs serious work you should expect $100+ for alterations.

If the price it takes to alter it is too much, then just buy a new one.

How much do you like the suit? If you don't like it, don't alter it.

If you bought a new suit would it still need the same adjustments?

Without pictures it is difficult to comment but do you like the thing? If not then perhaps burn it, if you do and it was not ultra cheap then alterations in proportion to that cost.

There is a point though that you might prefer a new suit.

If chest and shoulders are good, everything else is cheap alterations.

Can you buy a new suit without making alterations? I know I can't.

Sleeves shortened and waist tapered are not big alterations.

A change would do you good so just get a new one instead of worrying about altering the old suit.
