Just got back from a trip where my luggage tag off my briggs and riley luggage some how got lost. I emailed them asking if they sold replacements (even though my particular piece is discontinued) and they sent me a reply that they just shipped one out to me (for free). I love good customer service.

That's fantastic.

I love my Briggs and Riley pieces. They're not the lightest luggage, but they seem virtually indestructible.

Just got back from a business trip and have my 22" upright in the corner now. Love it.

+1 My only regret is not buying them 15 years ago.

OP, as a fellow grad student who has to travel for conferences I can't say enough positive things about my Briggs & Riley. Best money I ever spent.

I have been a frequent flyer for 23 years, usually spend around 200 nights a year in hotels. Briggs & Riley rocks.
They stand behind the "no questions asked" warranty.

my two core pieces (a carry on roller expander and a rolling suit bag) are B & R, I have had 0 issues with for 5 years of constant air travel.
I will not waste money on any other brand.

We have a number of pieces. B&R has repaired them a few times in 10+ years "no questions asked". All I need to do is drop them off at my local dealer and they take care of everything.

As much as I would like some fancy-dan, brand luggage, my B&R in black nylon is under-the-radar, and the customer service and warranty trumps status. I put any extra $$$ into a leather carry-on.
