1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Nice Tomkins. I conditioned mine with Obenauf's which darkened it a little bit and softened it, too. Now that it's been 4 months I will probably condition it again. I get lots of compliments on the bag.

so I was mistaken on the spelling, but purchased the Aston 218-BC briefcase. it's identical to the one I posted in the quote, but dark brown.

ok so I didn't realize you two replied to my post until now. I bought the case for 90 bucks, so it's going to do for now.

I'm no leather aficionado here so I can't tell you much on the material, but for a case that I needed asap, it's pretty good.

I didn't know what I wanted or needed in a case until now. from here, I'll look for things like function and feel when searching for my next case. the flap is very firm, I wish it were easier to fold open. it's sturdy and has what I want, good handle and straps, good locking, great room for a medium case.

Should I post pics of it somehow, or do you guys not care to see it? lol

That is a hell of a score for Frank. And a hell of a bag for Barack. So cool.

So is this guy an assistant principal in a local high school? That is one roughly attired group - Calling Jos A. Bank to the white courtesy phone. I could not "want" anything in that picture.

People who are forced to dress "nicely" every day tend to have a bad habit of wearing really ugly "nice" things. Unless you take it up as a hobby/interest instead of just a requirement, you're probably going to look like you rent your suits.

I don't understand this reply. When you work in government are you prohibited from owning a full length mirror?

Government salaries and DC rents don't leave much for good clothes-- unless you don't need the job in the first place.

Yes. There was a day, back in the '70s, when working in the government didn't pay well. Here's to the future - where it is that way again.

The desk, the Resolute Desk, was a gift to the U.S. by Queen Victoria in 1890. Replicas of it are readily availabe if you google Resolute Desk Replica, including the White House Gift Shop web page.
