The dimensions are a bit smaller than the SAB at 17 x 12.

With just the rear ticket pocket the bag is about 6.5 lbs. With a full-length rear magazine/newspaper pocket it will be a bit heavier.

That is not bad at all. I kind of like the bags, actually. They seem to be a good mix of SAB and saddleback, but more towards the SAB side. Looks very solid. The bag also seems to hold a LOT:

Do you make a smaller bag? What exactly is the difference between Ambassador, Maverick and Diplomat models?

    (warning: valextra n00b question)

^ I don't get the love for Valextra. The bags look very generic to me - I suppose the leather quality is awesome, but the design is just bleh.

Finally got around to taking a few pictures of two of my favorite briefcases, albeit with my phone. Both are lid-over-body cases.

The first is an SAB for Peal/BB.

The other is by Mädler, a Swiss company that used to have a store on 57th St. I'm not sure if they're still around.

I like SilverStreak's bag above, but Valextra is usually lost on me as well. That said, better their generic-looking stuff than their non-generic stuff.

It's been so many years since I read that book that I forgot about the reference. Now I really feel like a big-timer!

It would be interesting to go back and find out what else Sherman McCoy wore/carried, etc. to see how many are SF favorites. Or has someone already done that?
