Long time lurker here. I just retired my old briefcase that had served me well for the last 10 years to make way for the newcomer from Sweden. The SBL had developed a nice patina as it traveled with me around the world but it is just is a bit too big for today's carry-on restrictions.

Very nice. The new one is much more my style. Carry it with pride and in good health!

Agreed.

@igufi beautiful case and a timeless design/color/style. Simple, functional, elegant. Enjoy!

I was a bit hesitant in going with such a plain design at first but I really liked the little extra details they had added to the back:

... usually the attachment rings for the shoulder trap ruin the design (IMHO) but in this case, they can be neatly tucked away when not needed. Also the little flap is a nice touch to prevent the back pocket from bulging open.

Sorry about stupid question: I'm looking to up my work-bag game -- what I 'm currently carrying looks horrendous, so I need to get some decent looking briefcases. What considerations, if any, do you do when it comes to colour of briefcase vis-a-vis colour of shoes/belt etc?

I was on a business trip to London last week. Visited Pickett shop in Soho and looked for a 2 gusset briefcase. The following one caught my eyes. Lightweight and slim. However, the bridle leather itself is a bit too soft for my taste. At £895, I decided not to buy this one. Here's the pictures I took. Enjoy.

Bridle leather seems a little soft than I expected:

I have been carrying this since 1973 or 74. That is it’s third handle.
Good leather really age with if cared for properly.

That is a nice looking case you are right the leather will last for years if looked after in my experience the thread is the weakest link although in your case it would appear the handle is the weakest area.

New poster here.

I'm currently in the market for a new briefcase to fit a suit, and am based in Tokyo, Japan.

If anyone has any recommendations on good makers to visit in Tokyo, I'd appreciate it.

Budget is ~$800/100k JPY.

This is my last leather briefcase I've ever needed. Full bespoke case of my own spec. Leather of choice, color, size, strap, HWs, handle, pretty much everything. No more desire to buy any other leather briefcase now...
