    Gentlemen,

I didn't find much while looking for a thread on breast pockets. Looking at that SB suit with DB vest from Darren(absolutely stunning lapel), it got me to thinking about breast pocket location and width. If anyone watches those football commentators with their hideous suits, I couldn't help but notice how retarded the breast pocket looks on their suits, not to mention the impossibly high button stance and the fold of cloth resembling a lapel. I prefer a relatively high breast pocket, slightly angled and is partially covered by the lapel. What are your thoughts on this?

I prefer exactly the same thing you do.

Part the problem with the sports guys you mention is that they are very big guys, so they have a lot of chest to cover with cloth. If they insist on wearing high-button stance coats with three (or more) buttons rolled to the top button, they are always going to have the problem you describe. Wiser choices would make them look a lot better.

I think the breast pocket can really enhance the height of person very the suit. At first, it seemed odd that something as simple as a pocket can give this illusion but it does.

I have always examined suits people are wearing here in the city, even more so now with the great posts of Manton over this past month or so. It dawns on me the higher awareness cause by the knowledge obtained from these posts that dissecting the drape, skirting, angles, curves, shoulders, waist, etc., etc. has become reverse engineering in a sense. Taking something that is at heart, an art and breaking it down through scientific and technical means, to better understand the whole concept of suiting. Where as, the major points, such as lapel width, vents are easy to see, the minute details are now just as easy to see.
