Breast Pocket Real Estate

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I wanted to gauge opinions on breast pocket real estate, specifically sunglasses v. pocket squares.

I like the look of sunglasses sticking out of a jacket breast pocket but usually am wearing a pocket square. Is it gauche to have a pocket square and sunglasses? Does it have to be one or the other? Will it only work with certain types of frames or specific pocket squares ?

I never realized this was a "look". Do you have special sunglasses that you never wear but only keep sticking out of your breast pocket to implement this "look"?

I guess this is not any more affected than keeping a special handkerchief in the pocket with which one never blows one's nose nor mops one's forehead.

I started liking it when one of the villains in the most recent Bond film did it.

Considering I spend a decent amount of time inside, I'd like to do something with my sunglasses other then hitch them on to my forehead. So it is born of practicality, not fashion.

Really anything that keeps you from wearing them on the back of your neck is a victory for taste.

I think it is one of those things that if you do it with a casual ease, it will probably look right. If you start fussing with it to get it "just so" you will look up tight and overly styled.

I generally find there isn't really room for both. If you stick your sunglasses in that pocket then you end up pushing the PS down into invisibility. I often skip the PS if I want to carry sunglasses around with me, for this reason.

I regularly stash my sunglasses in my breast pocket and both they and my pocket square seem to cohabit nicely.

Every jacket I have owned has inside pockets in addition to the breast pocket. Any reason the sunglasses cannot be accommodated in one of these rather than messing with the pocket square?

Depends on the sunglasses. I find aviators fit neatly into my breast pocket along w/ my pocketsquare but there's no way any of my plastic-framed sunglases would do the same.

I think putting sunglasses in an inner breast pocket disrupts the flow of the jacket; sunglasses are too bulky of an item.

I also think it can look very fashionable to have the sunglasses protruding.
