I am breaking only two rules today - one sartorial and one sociological. The sartorial rule that I'm breaking is "no slip-ons with a suit"; the sociological rule is that it's Casual Friday at my office. I leave the efficacy of my rule-breaking to the viewer.

I got inspired by @UrbanComposition┬┤s outfit the other week, wearing a shawl cardigan with vest + trousers from a 3 piece. I wore boots with this earlier today BTW.

I've been looking for slip-ons in that style. Where do they come from?

They were a sale item I picked up this past August at Septieme Largeur in Paris (the Rue Coetlogon store on the Left Bank). Perhaps you can enquire them if they have any stock left in your size.

Breaking rules: mixing too many patterns, wintry tie with a summer jacket, and of course the SF house rule: don't take pictures in front of graffiti!

When wearing a very loud jacket I tend to go for either dressing the rest down (white shirt, monochrome tie in a matte colour, no ps), or I go full peacock like here. The only thing I avoid in "peacock mode" is introducing too many colours and having patterns that are too similar in size and shape.

    SC: Hackett
    Shirt: Bespoke
    Tie: Borrelli
    PS: A43
    Pants: Cos
    Shoes: Allen Edmonds
    Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples
    Cap: City Sport

Most of these are looking pretty good. I'm disappointed. I'd been hoping for more of these:

Ok, here we go. Almost two years ago I married my wife and did break a golden rule; I was wearing a tuxedo?!
Why? Because I like the look and did feel very comfortable. And thats what dressing is all about.
I look a bit strange without the beard...
The tux is a black mohair sumisura by Gaiola in Napoli. Very italian style with soft shoulder with spalla wrickles, shiny and wide lapels and tapered legs.

(I did break another rule during the wedding party, I was dancing all night long in a pair of velvet slippers, so comfortable...)

Is it breaking the rules to sport semi-formal day wear to the office? I think you will agree, gentlemen that today it is at least - shall we say, eccentric?! Well, being an eccentric old Englishman I do sometimes allow myself such an indulgence and, because it's only semi-formal, feel obliged to bend some of the rules. As here sporting a red patterned tie rather than the expected grey or silver. Last time I did the latter my doctor asked if I was an undertaker[IMG]

Hi all, many great entrances, I'm only playing to make the number. I've been a bit silly breaking at least three rules:
    - Thou shall not wear some loafers with a suit ( from septiemelargeur also !)
    - Thou shall not wear pleated trousers when you have a belly
    - Thou shall shine your shoes

What, no plaid shoes? Seems halfhearted to me ;-)

Did you start this project with the shirt or the waistcoat?
