Brand you hate and the reasons for it..

I know it was probably done a 100 times but I have decided to open a new thread where we call all went out dissatisfaction with certain popular brands out there.
Let me start first as I have a lot of venom to spill:

Gieves and Hawkes – OTR suits for 700 pounds even though they were made in a sweatshop in Mauritius ..What makes the whole thing worse is the really obvious label telling us so..Living on old laurels

Kiton,Zegna Brioni- beautiful tailoring but 2000 pounds!! for an average OTR jacket is taking a proper piss.Nto sure what sucker buys this but there must be some out there

Ralp Lauren- worn in London by chavs and rich Arabs and Russians with no taste.The large garish horse on EVERYTHING does not help their cause+ seriously overpriced

Abercrombie and Fitch and all their evil offspring (Hollister..)- see above

Hugo Boss – mass produced ,poorly made in Turkey and terribly overpriced..I used to love them but now their **** has broken my heart

Topman,Primark,River Island- clone brands for the clones of today (skinny jeans,awfull colours,bad fit…they all look the same)

I don't 'hate' any brand but I do have some that I don't care for. Top off the list is Tommy Hilfiger, mainly because my boss thinks it is the **** and because it is a RL wannabe. However, I do like their Meet The Hilfigers ad campaign though.

Fair question and It deserves a reply.I was planning to put that in the original post but I guess it slipped my mind. So without further delay in no particular order here it goes:

Cordings- beautiful ,traditional tweed jackets that have become world renown. Also very good for quality chinos,courdrouy trousers and knitwear. An English institution!

Ede and Ravenscroft- great tailoring for that quintessential English look without the Savile Row pricess although I hear some of their stuff is also made in Mauritius J

Suit Supply – I have been their fan for years and own a couple of their OTR suits. They are well made,good quality, modern and affordable. One of those brands normal working people can afford!

Boggi - modern Italian style ,well made and not to will price vise.The only negative is that they don’t do their jackets in Long (I’m 6 foot 3 and everything looks short on me L

Harvie & Hudson, Hilditch & Key ,Duchamp – first 2 for nice classic well-made shirts and the last one when I need a splash of colour

Jaeger – not the most loved brand here but some of their stuff Is really good and you can get a nice half-canvassed jacket for 130 pounds during their sales .Win!

Loake and Barker for shoes – Loake when I need an affordable pair quite quickly,Barker If I have a bit more in my shoe buying budget

There are more brands like Uniqlo for polo shirts and knitwear ,Levis for jeans and others.

Gieves as well. It is Weejun their provider of ready to wear that makes some of their stuff there.

Styleforum is a vast site covering every clothing from Workwear to Streetwear to Dress Casual to Conservative Dress to Formal. This thread lies specifically within the Mens Clothing (casual-dress-formal).
The responses you receive here may or may not be entirely different from responses you may receive in the Streetwear & Denim section found here : http://www.styleforum.net/f/13/streetwear-and-denim
That said, common concerns here (MC) will commonly revolve around the following issues:

• Workmanship and materials that are of a consistently high quality and durability.
• Domestic labour preferred to out-sourced slave labour, thus contributing to stronger local economies.
• An abiding respect to tradition and history while also, where appropriate, applying innovative methods and technology (ie-improving a product).

In laymans terms, products that are well made and made in your home country and are of excellent quality are what is preferred.
Fair pricing is also of very high concern. I don't mind spending $300 on a finely made shirt where I know that the labour was paid well and fairly treated.
Therefore, any manufacturer or brand that engages premium pricing for garments using out-sourced and exploitive slave labour, will be names I won't intentionally support.
What is being lost in our modern world is an obervance, respect and appreciation of owning and enjoying locally made or imported finely and ethically made garments and accessories.
Within contemporary urban societies there is an ever-increasing population filled with ignorance in the affairs of living well. What sites such as Styleforum offers is an educational forum through which these principals can be both shared and preserved for future generations.
The bottom line is, as I see it, whether purchasing domestic or imported, to take the time and research brands that offer finely and ethically made items that are fairly priced.

I have one. They are very rarely seen over here in the USA and hardly a household name, but they are competing with Polo and Lacoste. I can't speak for Polo but Lacostes are much better quality than Fred Perry and FPs are not priced competitively over here.

I don't get all the **** for Filson bags on this site. They may be durable and locally made (qf Man of Lint's post above) but they are usually seen on here with people dressed in conservative business dress type outfits on their way to the office, when to me they look like they should be strapped over the shoulder of a barbour-wearing ganekeeper with a couple of dead rabbits dripping blood out of the brass eyelets.

Yep, one or two are ok, but when you go into a bar and around 30 people are wearing them, it gets a bit too much. I've started wearing Pierre Cardin and Farah polo shirts which are not too expensive, but you can bet your life if people start wearing them, and people have been asking me where to get them, the stores will slap another 50% on them. It goes like that over here.

Allen Edmonds -- imo, very unstylish and boring. Well made, good value for those who like the style, etcetera.
Just not a fan of their products, but respect their popularity (clearly they have alot of customers who love their products).
