Studebaker made the "Dictator" model well into the thirties. More recently, and in my wardrobe, I have a dress shirt from a 1970s Queens haberdashery called "Trends of Flushing." Doesn't seem to be around anymore. And then, of course, from Japan, there's this.

I feel the same way, but for a slightly different reason than you. I want an outfit to be my own, and don't want to be "stamped" with a designer logo. That cheapens it for me, regardless of the premium one typically pays for the logo. Plus, my outfits are oftentimes a composite of many brands; and logo clashing bothers me even more. I'd much prefer they be taken out of the equation all together. My take on "good" style has much less to do with branding and far more to do with overall aesthetic.

Haha I hear you. When I buy something and I see someone else wearing it it seems to ruin it for me almost to the point wear I stop wearing it. I also can't stand clothes with brand names plastered on it, even RL logos annoy me.

Do you actually love the jacket, or do you just covet its social consequences?

For instance, if none of the women you interacted with had ever heard of Gucci, or at least didn't know what the monogram meant, would you still "like the jacket"?

Or going farther, if you really wanted to bang a girl who abhorred Gucci and/or monograms, would you still "like the jacket"?

And in either case, would you spend anything approaching MSRP to own it?

Because people will buy it. They are a business.

lol wtf? How do you function in todays world then when everything (not just clothes) is branded. Actually clothes tend to be a lot more incognito than most things out there.

You answered your own question. If clothes are less branded "than most things" and he hates branding, it's safe to say unbranded clothes will be easier to find than unbranded other "things" (according to you), whatever those may be.
