Nice. Any color and material recommendations for my first braces ever?

For the boxcloth braces, what size would be recommended? I am 6 feet on the nose. Do I go with XL or L and cut down to size?

Albert Thurston has one of the best. I love their sized braces.

Trafalgar makes some real funky pattern that are called limited editions. I hate the fact that they are one size fits all.

I would go wine with navy stripes from Thurston, but buy a brace that will compliment your wardrobe nicely.

or if you want to spend the money, I really like this Trafalgar brace, but it's a little less versatile—more for the country club I think.

Are the fabric ends of Trafalgar nice? Leather looks better to me, but I have no idea what I'm talking about.

In my opinion the fabric ends lend to a more formal look.

Do you think silver is a good basic color? I'm unsure about darker colors because they would clash with my light colored shirts.

Dark colors like navy go well with light shirts because it creates a nice contrast—You don't want your outfit to be monochrome. As for the ends on the Trafalgar brace, they're not necessarily better or worse, just a little more formal/dressy, as someone else mentioned.

First braces ever? Don't jump into Thurstons just yet. I own a pair, and they're very nice, but they're not that much better than these, on sale now. Get a pair in navy and in burgundy.

These are fun, too, and also on sale.

Life is too short for this approach. If you've decided to be a braces wearer, sooner or later you'll be in Thurstons - so why not save yourself all the crappy intermediary stages and skip straight to the best. Even if they end up being the only pair you own, at least you'll own a really good pair. The boxcloth are the most satisfactory, though warm for summer. Personally I tend not to wear braces in summer anyway.

I brought my braces form TM Lewin, relatively low cost and does the job

For funky ones, I like New &Lingwood

I also got a pair from there.. The part that attaches to the trousers broke! I did repair them though because I really like them.
