Would this be too much clash of formalities?

Thanks guys!

I've thought about this. If it is, I believe it is marginal and I wouldn't care. It really comes down to how you like to keep your pants up. I would just make sure to stick with a more casual material for the braces (box cloth over barathea). Also, though I am enamored with white ended braces, I think brown ends would probably make more sense if worn with odd jackets.

Probably so. The very thought of a blazer is one for informal circumstances in which it might be desirable to remove it, hence a belt is far more versatile.

Stick with braces for suits.

Even when I wore braces with all my suits, which I don't any more, I always disliked braces with odd trousers. Always got my odd trousers with belt loops.

+1. Braces themselves aren't inherently formal, as long as you get ones which are suited to casual wear (though, personally, I also prefer belts with everything).

If you want to casualize your suspenders, just unbutton one button at one of the anchor points for that devil-may-care look.

Just checking, but this is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, right?

Well maybe not the bow tie, but I'd love to be able to pull'em off like that. I know its not formal, or for the office, but rather a more collegiate/preppy thing, which I love.

To be useful to the convo, i have never seen pull off flannel pants with bracers AND a sport coat. too much going on.

Who told you that suspenders with chinos is a "collegiate/preppy thing?"
