Does anyone else think that braces make tucking in your shirt a pain in the ass? I get my shirt nice and perfectly tucked and then, as soon as I have pulled the braces up over my shoulders, the tuck job is ruined. Its very annoying and I only put up with it b/c braces are the ONLY way to go when wearing a vest since the eliminate the possibility of the ugly gap between trousers and vest.

I don't have this issue but that might be because I have rubber shirt grabbing material sewn inside all my waistbands.

Your pants waist is probably too tight. Suspender pants should have a slightly looser waist than pants with a belt. The shirt should fall back in.

Me too. How do you go about the whole process? I attach my braces to the trousers before I put them on. Then I put on my shirt and pull up my trousers just as I would do with belted trousers. After I tuck my shirt in, I pull the braces up over my shoulders. Then I have to re-tuck my shirt. It's a particular pain when I have to do this after I take a dump at the office.

I used to have this problem untill I started getting fitted shirts that helps out a lot. You could also try those shirt stays that attatch to your socks I hear those work good too.

All of my shirts are either MTM or have been altered and fit pretty closely.

This is the answer. I find it easier to have the shirt remain properly tucked because braces allow the trousers to be a bit looser. I would guess that if the tuck is a problem then your trousers are being held up not by the braces, but rather by the tightness of the trousers at the waist.

You could also just wait until you've put your suspenders over your shoulder before bothering to straighten out the shirt.

Usually I pull my pants up, with the fly open, holding them by the waist band, while tucking the shirt in, then I pass the braces on my shoulders. Then I make sure the shirt is properly tucked in in the front and I close the fly.
Never had problems with the shirt not staying tucked.

P.S. luftvier beat me on this one. I'm too slow.

I don't have this problem, but I no longer wear braces because they just seem to slip off my shoulders too easily. I don't have very square shoulders so I've given up on them.

I wear braces and don't have your problem

I suggest you wear longer shirts that stay tucked.

A number of people have written that pants with braces should be a little looser. I wear mine a lot looser, roughly 2". This allows them to slide over the shirt when the waistband moves while sitting, standing, etc. My shirt rarely needs to be rearranged and never comes untucked.

Ha! My Dad Of Blessed Memory used to do this ALWAYS even when wearing a belt. He claimed, correctly so that when you tuck your pants in the regular way when you pull your hand out you pull the shirt out as well. Of course he would do this in public which would be fun for us kids. I miss him.
