After cleaning out my closet I have a shoebox full of ties and pocket squares that I would like to send out to somebody. I would prefer that it went to a college kid or young professional, but I am not particularly picky. There are probably close to 20 ties all of very high quality (Charvet, Kiton, Borrelli, Attolini etc) and a couple of pocket squares (Charvet and Ben Silver).

All I need is an address and they are good to go. I need to go to fedex tomorrow anyway, so I would love to send them out then.

Happy New Year.

I would've gone for these, but Matt probably would've just shipped me a box full of explosive ties.

We're adding onto our bedroom to add a new master bath and closet. Right now my clothes are scattered all over the house (and we're sleeping in the living room), but once the work is done I've resolved to winnow out stuff I don't wear regularly as I move stuff into the new closet. So stay tuned.

Yeah, I have a bunch of stuff I'm going to clean out of my closets as well once I get motivated to do it as well.

I was fortunate enough to be the recipient of part of iammatt's generous donation to his SF friends. I got the box today and am still speechless!! Inside was the most beautiful assortment of ties I have ever seen (and I love fondling silk in nice mens stores) from the best names in tie-making in the world.

Attolini unlined ties (including a wonderful linen/cotton summery tie and a stunning dark navy solid); Borrelli seven-fold; Anna Matuozzo; Brioni; Capelli (a small Neapolitan maker); and perhaps the best surprise of all: a red Marinella grenadine tie. The beautiful Etro silk pocket square was like icing on the cake.

As you know, Matt has excellent taste and the ties are all in beautiful and classic patterns. There isn't one ugly tie in the bunch and they can all easily compete to become my favorite tie. I will try to take a pic to show you all because they really have to be seen to be appreciated. Many look brand new and unworn.

I am still stunned and obviously very grateful to Matt for his incredible generosity. He even sent them FEDEX at his expense - true class all the way. Thanks Matt!

I will pay it forward in some way down the road but for now, I'm going to enjoy the silk

Good to hear about the generosity; altruism is so rare indeed. Some years from now I could see myself doing something like this, though at this point I am still in the midst of building my foundation. Matt, you are an inspiration.

Bravo to SF! Bravo to Matt!

I do believe EL72 will pay it forward at some point.
