Bowler Hat from Lock & Co Quite Possibly Unique...

Okay I thought this was rare enough and interesting enough to share with you all.
A friend picked this up recently secondhand in London. After some inquires it seems Lock and Co of St James (http://www.lockhatters.co.uk/) made it as a press sample model some time back. Interestingly it is a traditional fur felt Bowler that has then been covered in material and edged in the usual manner - accept in white.

Is it a bowler? It might just be the way that the covering material is cut, but the top of the hat looks both wider and flatter than the crown of a traditional bowler hat.

Interesting, but I can't help but wonder why one just wouldn't get a fedora or something similar if you wanted a hat in a lighter shade...

Well you can feel under the covering that the curve of the hat follows teh traditional line of a bowler -

It's a bowler. What you're seeing is lens distortion. Your buddy should contact Lock and see if they can give him more information about this hat.
