1. Are all bow ties about the same size? It seems like some of the bows are larger than others?

2. Does the material make much of a difference?

3. I want a solid black one, I have seen some shiny and dull ones. Is one more appropriate than the other?

Thanks!

1. (a) define about. (b) Correct.
2. Yes
3. yes.

It really depends on what you need/want the tie for. I have both grosgrain and satin solid black bowties. I match the tie to the facings on the lapel of my eveningwear. I prefer grtosgrain, as satin is just meh to me.

There are diffrent styles and widths to all bowites causing for a larger or smaller bow. It mostly depends on which you prefer. I find that an all silk or silk blend is best and will help you achieve the best finish. As for the finish I would go for a more satin finish if it is for formalwear if not then something in a gross grain might be more appropriate.
