Do you prefer the store picks over the normal barrel proof? I’ve never tried the picks

Man, this one is good. The typical BP release seems to be slightly more “refined” for the masses. This single barrel is 9 yr and is a bourbon nerds dream. Some intense oak and musty warehouse notes. Sweet and intense, yet dangerously drinkable!

Not bourbon, but anyway. Haven’t seen this in Texas, picked it up in Tennessee near the shack. A little pricey ($50 for this one) but damn good and glad I tried it

Anyone tried Old Elk? Local store has some store picks of their wheated bourbon.

I've had three store picks of Old Elk locally. One was outstanding; the other two were very one-note, sweet, wheated whiskey. I'd struggle to spend eighty bucks on any of them again.

Damn, a local store has both a 6 and 7 year available ($69 and $89). I'll pass

Full Proof store pick. Can't say it's my favorite.....so far pretty hot with some astringency yet not the corresponding fullness of flavor that I'd expect at the proof. Maybe need to let it sit for a few months and come back
