Went to the zoo today and stopped at the liquor store around the area of downtown. Not a bad haul today.

Popped into Total Wine yesterday for some vermouths. They keep the allocated bourbons (******* hipsters die) at the customer service desk and enforce a 1 bottle limit per customer. They had just put out handles of Buffalo Trace for $45 and a Rare Eagle 10 750ml for $38. Both came home with me. :)

Interesting - you had to ask for them? I've never tried asking (assumed everything was on the shelves)

The Eagle Rare is a solid choice at that price. I see it pretty often here in Texas, and Buffalo Trace sits on the shelf gathering dust for some reason.

From my trip Louisville trip!

Woulda picked up more but time constraints limited me. Worth noting the Dickel BIB is the first release (2019)

Happy Monday!

Great score on that Dickel. My bottle’s almost gone. Maybe @gnatty8 can comment on the 3d bottling, which I’m about to grab shortly…

You'll love that Dickel 15 yo. It's one of my favorites by far. I picked up some scores in Knoxville last week including two fantastic Yellowstone single barrel store picks. These surprised the hell out of me when I tried one back in July, so looking forward to popping those open. Enjoy those!

Found a bottle of Smoke Wagon CS at a Specs near me. Great nose and even better taste.

Is peerless any good? Awfully expensive price point for what I assume is sourced spirit.

Peerless is a craft distillery located in downtown Louisville. Took a tour last March and sampled several special bottlings.

Most importantly, Peerless employs a “sweet mash” style which does not allow the fermented “leftovers” from previous batches to be constantly recycled back into new batches. This gives the whiskey a unique character.

Pics are from my tour:

^Interesting to note, the pic of the Rickhouse shows barrels which have what appears to be a tar-like substance on the top of some of the barrels.

When I inquired as to why some barrels have much more of the discoloration than others...the guide informed me those barrels were the favorite of the tasters and workers who have come back multiple times to tap that particular barrel.

Apparently, Friday evenings are quite eventful around the Peerless distillery.

Happy Wednesday!
