^^^^^^^^^^^^

Huh. I'm intrigued.

And speaking of those seasonal releases, I just saw a bottle of barrel proof Parker's Heritage Collection 2013 edition on the shelf at my liquor store. Anyone know if it's worth the purchase?

Parker's is good. I actually just had a couple glasses of it at a friends house. I'm going to track down a bottle here

Has anyone tried Abraham Bowman bourbon? Limited supply just popped up around here and I've never heard of it.

Gnatty, great pic.

As to the Black Maple did you know it's like Whistle Pig? Just buying sourced distillate and aging it. Given how Jim Beam rye and Old Overholt are the same distillate I wonder how many bottles of the various whiskies share the same distillate? I've a bottle of the Black Maple and think it's a nice value. Very nice in a true Old Fashioned.

Nice to see you back Gnatty.

That is the dirty little secret of a lot of high end ryes and bourbons these days. People buying bulk whiskeys and repackaging them. There are a ton of people out there doing it.

One of the best examples of that is all the 95% rye whiskey that's been introduced to the market the last few years. Almost all of it comes from Lawrenceburg Distillers Indiana (LDI). Bulleit, Templeton, High West, Redemption, George Dickel, and KBD (aka Willet) among others get their whiskey from LDI. I also heard Jefferson's, who it was rumored got it's rye from the same Alberta distillery as Whistlepig, is moving over to LDI also.

Yeah- not sure, the guy that told me wasn't certain either.

I did hear the same thing you did, that they were going to be distilling for whistlepig in vermont rather than buying from canada. I think the owner even said as much in a WSJ interview.

If anyone has any extra Pappy (15, 20, 23 and Rye) I'd be interesting in trading or buying it. Looking to put together a very nice gift. Thanks!
