Recenty bought a bottle 8 Buck bourbon on a whim. It's bottled here in the bay area (san Jose to be exact) using various 8yr old bourbons. I find it overly sweet and lacking any complexity. That said, it's pretty easy drinking and would make a good entry bourbon. Still, for $20, there are much better options, I.e. bulleit and buffalo trace.

Replenished the supply over the last couple of weeks. One Pappy is from last year.

I am a bourbon fan myself. I like Weller Reserve, WT101, Eagle Rare, and Knob. I usually just go neat, once and while as an old fashioned if the mood for a cocktail strikes.

On a side note, I had a co-worker who was a big Jack Daniels fan. He visited the distillery annually, yet he swore up and down that Jack was bourbon. All those trips to Tennessee and they never stated the difference between sour mash whiskey and Kentucky bourbon...doubtful.

speaking of weller... forgot I had a bottle of the 09 cask strength. I just don't see the appeal of CS I guess.

Holy cow, is that a $59.99 price tag I see on the Stagg? What city did you buy those in? Staggs are going for ~$100+ in NYC. Although that's nothing compared to the $150 price range of PVW15 on ebay right now.

I am generally into scotch, but I love a good bourbon (preferably neat with a chilled glass) and old-fashioneds. My local bars and my friend, who makes a pretty good old fashioned, generally use Maker's Mark. I really do not make cocktails--far to lazy.

I had a glass of Pappy Van Winkle 20 last night at a bar i frequent in SF, it was the best bourbon i've ever tasted.
    Now to find a bottle.

pvw 20 is pretty tough to find. i think this year especially the bottlings were limited.

but imo totally worth the 130 to 200 price tag

Eagle Rare is very good bourbon.

This weekend I've had some Bulleit, Blanton's, and Rowan's Creek single barrel.
