New here to the wonderful world of bourbon, I've only tried Woodford Reserve and the Double Oaked version, which is my favorite, but want to begin expanding my horizons. I mainly drink Old Fashion, what is the recommended go to Bourbon for OF?

I actually like a Rye Old Fashioned these days, but Old Grand Dad BiB 100 used to be my go-to Bourbon for any and all mixed drinks. Its of decent quality, has a 'high rye' mash bill for some spice, good proof, and doesn't break the bank

My go to OF recipe these days is:
2oz Bourbon/Rye
1/4oz of a rich (2:1) simple syrup made brown turbinado sugar (aka "sugar in the raw")
and 2 dashes of ango bitters

I feel like the turbinado simple syrup was a game changer for me

For a mixer, I'd always go for Old Granddad Bottled in Bond

Rock solid. I like a few dashes of orange bitters too as I'm generally too lazy to express an orange peel.

Black walnut bitters
Chocolate bitters
Banana liqueur instead of simple/sugar

Got yourself a nanner bread ol fashy.

No photo but a bit of Old Forester King Ranch neat to cap the night.

I'd say "a rough monday" but I've found since retiring that they're a lot less rough. ;)

Price was a little high ($250) but I’m a sucker for a good Texas bourbon, picked it up at their distillery on way back from Fredericksburg. They had one bottle. Opening it now. Think I’ll water this one..

Also, sometimes I try and put together a fairly cheap blend that punches above its weight, for folks who don’t know, or care… This Boulevardier is good. I’d sub out the Aperitivo… not bad. A bit cloying.
