No, it has a solid back in platinum.

wow, that Patek is a great looking watch. Never thought PP were very aesthetically pleasing but your watch is one of the nicest I have seen. 6-8 weeks....I'd be going nuts during the wait.

20% off on a brand new, popular model PP would be quite a feat.

The PP 5196p lists for $24,100, I can have it(NIB) on my wrist tomorrow for $18,500(no tax collected) from a reputable dealer(not an AD). He will give me his 2yr. warranty(his watchmakers do minor work, anything major and it goes back to PP on his tab). I began my collecting with vintage watches so I'm not squeamish about working without a net(AD).

Wow, that is just a perfect watch.

I would be jealous, but it seems like you are the perfect person to own and appreciate such a work of art.

Plus, the best thing about the watch is that it fits perfectly inside a shirts' cuff.

Both the PP and the GP reflect my shared preferences for both simplicy in design as well as silver tones. It is truly a challenge these days to find watches that are tastefully understated and that possess a sense of timeless style without appearing uninpired. Both pictured pieces fit this description, in my opinion. While I will likely never own a PP, I deeply admire and respect them from afar.

Z, congrats in what is one of the nicest watches I have seen. I too really appreciate simple, unadorned styling, and as such the Calatrava fits the bill. However, I have a really small wrist and find that tank style watches seem to suit me more. Jon, do you have any recommendations for a watch of the kind of simplicity of the 5196p except in a rectangular face?

    Stephen
