I know there's a substantial amount of Bostonites on this forum, so I'll try to see if I can find a good lead here...

For two years now, I've been suffering with sub-optimal haircuts. My hair's not particularly fussy, but, for some reason, wherever I go in this town I end up with a terrible cut. I'm looking for a new place where I can be a regular and know they won't screw up my hair.
So, tell me, where do you guys get your hair cut?

Southgate Duke?

I go to a barber shop in Watertown Square. It's 20 bucks incl tip, and they do a decent job. I don't require anything weird that a traditional barbershop couldn't handle.

Used to go to a barbershop in the suburb I grew up in. Before I moved away, I went to High Street at 296 Newbury. It's a little overpriced, but it was the least-butchered haircut I could find in Boston.

For a good cut and a nice atmosphere, I'll pay anywhere up to 100. But that's only if I get to have my hair cut perfectly, do not have to deal with chit-chatty women and/or queens.
I need more than a bowl cut or an ivy or something a barber could do. Medium length with some good texture to it.

I used to get my hair cut by Barbara McCabe at Salon 350 located at 350 Newbury Street. I know that the four owners parted ways and opened separate salons. Barbara opened hers (Studio 330) at 330 Main Street, Charlestown, MA. Not a far drive at all. She does a great and if I still lived in Boston, I would definitely be getting my cuts from her.

Best to head for NY if you want a decent haircut.

Way out of the way - I'm traveling by T, no car. I'd rather not walk half an hour just to get a hair cut.

Anyone else want to weigh in before I go chop my mane off? I'm planning on doing it tomorrow...

Take the Green Line to Boylston Street, and then the Silver Line toward the South End for ~7 minutes and you're right in front. Or it's a 10 minute walk, maybe 15, from the Copley green line / Back Bay orange line stops.

Honestly. They'll give you a beer, can give you a shampoo, straight razor shave at the end, hot towel, a little masasge, very comfy seats, jazz music. It sounds like you might have something important coming up, so you can get a shave too. Good place. Don't say I didn't try to convince you!

Dunno if I'm too late, but Asa Hair Design in Harvard Square. Ask for Chris. They've been cutting my hair since I was a kid, and chris was the one who chopped off all my hair back when I got it cut. He's a really nice guy, travelled a lot, talks enough but not too much, learned to cut hair in Paris, and rocks.

Tell him Dan sent you, if you go. I mean, he probably won't give you a discount, but he'll appreciate it

Thanks for the tip! Not too late, I had to postpone the haircut and all purchases this weekend thanks to some jackass who snagged my wallet out of my hand and bolted as I was paying for my coffee.
I'll definitely check it out and say hello to Chris from you!
