Hello All,

Any ideas on where one might by a quality tux for less than 800 in the Boston area, perhaps Northwest of Boston? Thanks in advance for any advice. Al

The Filene's Basement in Newton used to have tuxedos -- and they still might. I'd call them up to see. I got a beautiful Dunhill tuxedo (fully canvassed, one button, peak lapel) for $300 several years ago.

The Nordstrom Rack by me had a bunch of Hickey Freeman 1-button tuxes not long ago. Off 5th and NM Last Call are more hit or miss in my experience.

Is a Boston tux anything like a Boston marriage?

try to catch this guy when he is town: http://www.rocktailor.com/

For $800 you get MTM slacks and jacket with styling details of your choice (e.g. # of buttons, type of lapel, etc.), as well as tux shirt and set of (albeit mediocre) studs and links. To be honest, I'm not certain about the studs and links.

Regardless, I think Rock is good for entry-level stuff. He has been servicing Harvard business School and other area grad schools for years, as well as some young professionals in Boston proper rather than Cambridge.

You're on your own for shoes, though.
