Any idea what kind of discount will be had? I remember looking through the brochure from their last sale and thinking that nothing came even close to ebay.

That's true. I think it's 15-20%. You can't do better for park aves but you can for most other makes.

hmmm I might still look into it, if its 15 to 20 across the board...do you know if their newest stuff (particularly the Tauntons, which I actually think I had a dream about) will be included?

The new stuff wasn't on sale at the trunk show, but I don't know if this sale is structured the same way.

The crew @ AE Newbury store is seriously slow on the uptake

Last time I damn near had to draw a diagram so that these idiots would understand which style I was after. And it was for something they actually kept on the floor, as it turned out.
So far as I know their sales imply a whopping 25%

mark-down on select models. When you can just walk up to the Basement, and get AEs for under $200 there.
Over @ Bloomies Cornelaini and Canali ( stuff I go for, anyway ) winter wear has been cleaned out more or less. I didn't check on the suits, though. They had nice Zegna shearlings for $3200. BAM, gone before I could blink.

well, it wasn't like a pubescant wet dream or anything, but they factored in somewhere. I want the taunton because:

I want a chelsea for wear with slim, dark (see: streetwear) jeans, but which is also dressy enough to double as a proper shoe in a pinch.

I only have one pair of decent black footwear (Park Aves), and I want something plain-toed.

I love the look and fit of the new #8 last.

I don't want to drop more than $300, but I do want to still have this shoe 5 or even 10 years from now.

Since the CT black chelseas have gotten such bad reviews (unless you break your back antiquing them to perfection), and RM Williams are a bit too rugged for this purpose, the Taunton seems to be the logical lemming.

Why not the Polo/C&J or Polo/Italy chelseas?
